ABOUT DISTRICT
It is believed that the word Thrissur was derived from the word “Thrissivaperoor”. Thrissur city has a structure that slopes downwards from the Vadakkumnath temple on the high ground in the center of the city. The ancient city of Thrissivaperoor was known as ‘Vrishabhadripuram’ and ‘Thenkailasam’ in ancient times.
